Annie Fergus, PsyD

Dr. Annie Fergus believes that the relationships we have with ourselves and those around us are of paramount importance in a healing journey. Dr. Fergus uses a psychodynamic and relational approach to therapy, allowing people to uncover how family systems, social influences, and cultural/societal systems contribute to our mental health. Dr. Fergus approaches therapy with a curious and nonjudgmental approach with the belief that everybody inherently has the wisdom to create the life they want. By using the therapeutic relationship and recognition of the patterns that perpetuate mental health struggles, clients can develop greater balance and agency in life.
Dr. Fergus has been trained in psychodynamic theories, with an emphasis on attachment and object relations as a framework for her clinical practice. She also uses evidence-based interventions and somatic regulation to support symptom reduction during times of acute distress. Lastly, she uses a narrative approach to reshape the ways trauma impacts the stories we tell ourselves. Dr. Fergus works primarily with adolescents, adults, and families who experience mood disorders, personality disorders, complex trauma, neurodivergence, and psychosis.
Dr. Fergus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. Throughout her career and training, she has worked in many settings including schools, inpatient and partial hospitalization programs, community mental health, and private practice.
